CTE programs and courses allow students to apply mathematics, science and communication competencies in laboratory and occupational settings that develop specific technical skills applicable in broad concentration areas.

Program concentration areas include:

  • Business & Computer Science
  • Family & Consumer Science
  • Graphic Communications
  • Healthcare Science
  • JROTC - Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps.

Students in the Business & Computer Science program have the opportunity to pursue industry certification in two state-approved pathways in Interactive Media and Small Business Development. The pathways provide a coherent, articulated sequence of rigorous academic and career-related courses leading after graduation to an associate degree, and/or industry-recognized certificate or licensure, and/or a baccalaureate degree and beyond.

Each pathway has three components: classroom/laboratory experiences, work-based learning, and two student clubs- the Career Technical Student Organization, and Future Business Leaders of America, which provide co-curricular activities that build teamwork and leadership skills. The Work-Based Learning component at the end of each pathway provides students with the opportunity to gain valuable work or internship experience while receiving high school credit and possible wages.

Within Family and Consumer Sciences is the:

Early Childhood Education program which includes an onsite internship where students can gain valuable hands-on experience working with young children in the Little Spartan Preschool while receiving high school credit.

Food Nutrition and Wellness program that promotes the understanding of nutritional needs and food choices for optimal health of individuals across the lifespan and Food Science courses which covers careers in food science, emerging technology and basic chemistry.

Interior Design program which introduces students to the principles and techniques of interior design.

The Graphic Design program is designed to help students enter and advance in one of America’s fastest growing industries. Students learn to design, create, and apply technical and computer skills to print and electronic communications. Graphics students design most of the posters and marketing collateral for publicizing Spartan Arts and other school events.

The Healthcare Science program provides challenging academic courses, relevant on-the-job experience and specialized technical skills needed for developing the problem-solving and decision -making skills required in the fast-paced healthcare industry. Medical Services Internships provide an opportunity for students to apply concepts and theories learned in the classroom under the direct supervision of a licensed or certified offsite healthcare provider.
